Don't ask

Lissie's favorite spot

Is it just because she likes to sit there or because she likes the climbing? I'll probably never know.

Smiling (and not smiling) Kate

Kate is starting to smile, quite a lot. It is too much fun trying to get that toothless grin to appear on her face-A favorite pastime of her sisters I assure you!

"Dinner Jackets"

Tonight Megan made a batch of scones. They are delicious btw and we will be making them on a regular basis. Please take the time and try them yourself! http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Grandma-Johnsons-Scones/Detail.aspx?prop31=1

Anyways, once they came out of the oven, Alyssa came over, took a look at them and asked in a skeptical voice, "Mom, what are those? Dinner jackets?" Dinner jackets? Um...no they aren't and where on earth do you come up with these things? :o)

Megan in one of her favorite places-the kitchen!

She smiles!

Ladies and Gentlemen-I present to you, dinner jackets!

Baby in a Bathtub

After Kate was born I realized that our baby bathtub had outstayed it's welcome and was thrown in the trash. Since Kate is most likely our last baby I was reluctant to spend money on something I would only use for this child (I'm kind of stingy like that). As a result, Kate has been taking baths on a folded towel on the floor of the bathtub-it works, but isn't ideal. Sara recently offered us the use of one of her baby tubs and brought it over and last night Kate had her first bath in a tub of the right proportions. She thoroughly enjoyed it. She truly is her mother's daughter.

So relaxed!

She was in no hurry to get out, that was for sure. I was surprised at how calm she was.

You can't get much cuter than this!!

Does this go together?

I've found from having children, that what goes together is relative only to what the wearer thinks goes together as evidenced by the following:

Pretty snazzy! No, she will not be leaving the house in this ensemble. Not today at least.

Busy!

We've had the Soden's in town for the past week so we have been on the busy side. Now that the holidays are over I'm looking forward to getting things back to normal. Well, as normal as they can be. I'm still not quite sure what our new normal looks like with Miss Kate, but I think we're getting there.

Here are a few pictures from the last week or so-Just a sampling of what we've been up to! :o)

Well like I said, we've had the Soden's here for a week. Andrew and Alyssa spent the week getting into trouble, everything from playing where they were not supposed to (as is evidenced in the above picture) to eating pretty much every piece of candy in the house, which as you can imagine, is a considerable amount right after Christmas. Allie also had her own brand of trouble, drinking and dumping both my almond and vanilla extract. Thankfully she didn't actually ingest much since that stuff has alot of alchohol in it!

This is Brianna, showing off her hairdo after 2 days wearing the same set of pigtails. Doesn't she look fabulous?

Miss Alyssa, enjoying a brief break from the craziness. Ok I admit it-I was the one who was really enjoying the break!

Oscar and Alyssa. Our cats have decided that Kate's beds are the best place to sleep-whether she is in them or not!

Kate-Just because she is so darn cute!

And last but not least, we had a birthday this past week. Jas turned 31, which, in my opinion is officially over the hill. I, being 30, and currently perched precariously on top of the hill, where I intend to stay for a good long while. Jason's birthday was nice-very quite as it was just us most of the evening. A good day. :o)
