Monday...Monday

I'm a stay at home mom so Mondays really shouldn't be a stretch for me. Unfortunately that isn't the case. My Mondays consist of getting the house back in order from the weekend. How is it that everything falls apart in just one day? We clean on Saturdays-a fairly good job-and then on Sundays I try and give everyone the day off and I just do cooking and minor pick-up. I think that is important in order to prevent burnout. So why does my house go from a place of peace and relative order (my house is never really in order) to tornado valley in one day? I will never understand this. :o/

For the summer Monday is also our "school" day. We don't have any friends over until 3 o'clock in the afternoon and after lunch we spend an hour or so doing Math and reading. We actually do reading everyday but on Mondays reading time is with Mom so I can see where each girl might be struggling. Math is done because it helps keep facts fresh, rather than taking the whole summer off and starting again in the fall, usually with a large memory gap. The girls don't love it, but thankfully the complaining is kept to a minimum. ;o)

Here we go

I have the worst memory ever. Seriously. I forget things all the time, I believe, more than the average person. This is one of the main reasons I decided to start a blog. I always want to write diaries for my kids-record the little things that they do that make us laugh and cry. Unfortunately for them, their mother isn't wired that way. Fortunately for them she is wired to sit at the computer and type for a half hour or so every so often. So here we are. If all goes well my kids will have a way to look back and see some of the little things (and probably not so little things) that went on in their daily lives. And since I tend to be the forgetful one, I'll be able to look back as well. :o)
